Richard (Dick) W. Bishop, 79, of Cromwell, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, October 24th, 2021, at Hartford Hospital. He was the husband to his beloved wife of 56 years, Sharon (Roden) Bishop, and the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Schroeder) Bishop. Born in New Britain, Dick has been a Cromwell resident for over 50 years. He owned and operated Bishop's Automotive Group in Cromwell and Middletown as a tow truck driver for over 60 years for State and Cromwell PD. For years, he was a volunteer for the East Berlin fire department. He was also a member of the Middlesex Chamber of Commerce.
Besides his wife Sharon, he leaves two sons, William Bishop and his significant other Giulia Iozzo of Cromwell; and Daniel Bishop and his wife Kristen, also of Cromwell; a brother, Robert Bishop and his wife Margaret of Kensington; 5 grandchildren, Bret, Miranda, Arianna, Karissa and Nolan; a great grandson; several nieces and nephews. He not only leaves his beloved family and friends, he leaves his three precious cats; Oscar, Carson and Cara.
He leaves behind a legacy built by his tireless work ethic and perfectionism that stayed with him till his passing. He never retired from his work and was dedicated to the multiple Bishop companies. All that knew Dick would know that both his Westies, Mac and Murphy, were barking to greet him as he made his way to the rainbow bridge in the sky. He will be truly missed by all that knew him, he was truly one of a kind.
