Rhonda Renee Rice, of Bull Valley, Illinois passed away peacefully on July 13, 2022. Rhonda was born at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida to Melvin and Ruth (Royer) McCord.
Growing up in Santa Ana, California, Rhonda enjoyed an idyllic life with her loving family and many friends, who have remained dear her entire life. Her family trips to Iowa found her also making friends with the farm animals, hopping on tractors and playing in the hay lofts. Thus began her love for animals, starting with her first dog Lucky and ending with her Labrador, Gunner, her numerous cats, turtles, and beloved horses. In high school, she met her future husband, Paul, the love of her life. They married on February 21, 1976, and were the proud parents of their two children and proud grandparents to their three grandchildren, the lights of her life.
Rhonda and Paul shared a life-long love of horses. Some of their favorite times were spent riding and camping throughout Montana and South Dakota. In the past several years, she and Paul shared their passion for horses with many in the Bull Valley community through their horse boarding and training business at Boone Creek Farm.
Both in California and Illinois, Rhonda found spiritual growth, fellowship, and deep friendships in her Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) groups. As a BSF leader over many years, she was an inspiration and support in the faith-walk of many women.
Rhonda’s family and friends know her as a loving, compassionate ray-of-sunshine. Drawing upon her knack for cooking and baking, she loved cooking meals to bring family and friends together, creating lasting memories.
Rhonda is survived by her loving husband Paul, daughter Katharine, son Jarrod (Elizabeth), grandchildren Connor, Hudson, and Avery, brother Michael (Debbie) McCord, and sister Margo (Don) McAnally.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Melvin and Ruth McCord.
