Reynolds Keith Honold passed away on July 16, 2022 at age 86.
Reynolds was born in Seattle, Washington, September 10, 1935, the son of Mary Adelle (Watson) McDowd and Harry P. McDowd. Reynolds and his sister, Maradel, moved from Seattle to Sheboygan, Wisconsin, in 1946 following their mother's marriage to Robert P. Honold on June 28, 1946 in Seattle. The children were adopted by Robert in 1948.
Reynolds attended Trinity Lutheran School ('49), Sheboygan Central High School ('53), and graduated from Valparaiso University (BA, '59). Reynolds served in the Air Force Reserve and was called to active duty in the Cuban Missile Crisis, 1962. He was employed at WHBL Radio in Sheboygan from 1959-1962. He then joined the R.P. Honold Co., Inc. in Sheboygan, and remained with the company until retiring as President/CEO in 1990, following the merger of the firm with Aldag/Honold Mechanical, Inc. Reynolds held licenses as Master Plumber, Fire Protection Sprinkler Contractor, Registered Designer of Engineering Systems, and Certified National Environmental Balancing Bureau of Air and Hydronic Systems.
Reynolds married Linda K. Brown December 5, 1987. In addition to Linda, Reynolds is survived by daughters Kathryn (J. Per) Brodin, Barrington, IL, and Kristine (Thomas) Krueger, Minocqua, WI; son-in-law Michael Khazzam, Southlake, TX; sister, Maradel Sager, Kewaskum, WI; five grandchildren, Nicholas and Erica Brodin, and Alexandra, Isabella and Zachary Khazzam; as well as cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Donald Sager, daughter Samantha Khazzam and other relatives.
Reynolds was engaged in many community activities, serving on local and Wisconsin boards of the American Cancer Society and founder of their Road America Run, Community Concerts, Friendship House, Healthy Sheboygan County 2000, John Michael Kohler Arts Center, Mead Public Library, Sheboygan Area Chamber of Commerce (Chair '77 - '80), Sheboygan Area Lutheran High School (Chair '80 - '84), Sheboygan Community Theatre Foundation (The Historic Sheboygan Theatre), Sheboygan County YMCA, Sheboygan Symphony Chorus member, and University of Wisconsin Sheboygan Foundation. He also served as a Director of United Savings and Loan (Valley Bank, M&I, BMO).
Reynolds was recognized for his community service with a Distinguished Service Award, Aurora Medical Center Foundation; Healthy Sheboygan County 2010 Community Service Award; and by the Sheboygan Press as one of "100 People Who Shaped Sheboygan County in the Past 100 Years."
Upon moving to Milwaukee in 1996, Reynolds took his love of opera to a board of directors membership with the Florentine Opera Co. He further was active with the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, serving as First Vice Chair, 1999-2001, and as a Delegate to the DNC Convention in 2000.
An avid running enthusiast, for over 40 years, Reynolds participated in hundreds of races that included marathons in Milwaukee, the Fiesta Bowl, and four Boston Marathons.
Family and friends will gather at Lake Park Lutheran Church, 2647 N. Stowell Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53211 on Saturday, July 30, 2022 beginning at 9:00 AM. A Memorial Service in celebration of Reynolds' life will follow at 10:00 AM. (NOTE: street parking only - there is no parking lot at church.)
The service will also be live-streamed - a link to this will be available Saturday morning on the Funeral Home website https://www.heritagefuneral.com - it will be at the top of Reynolds' obituary page once available. Private interment will be conducted at Lutheran Cemetery in Sheboygan.
In lieu of flowers, gifts are encouraged for Sheboygan Area Lutheran High School, the Florentine Opera Company, United Performing Arts Fund, or Woman's Club of Wisconsin Foundation.
