Rex DeWayne Anderson, age 71 passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. Rex was born January 15, 1951 to the late Garland and Maxine Anderson in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Dewayne started in the consumer finance industry in 1972. He established First Metropolitan Financial Services in 1987, which he owned and operated up until the time of his passing. Dewayne achieved the Pilgrim Degree of Merit from the Loyal Order of Moose Fraternity and was a lifetime member. He served on the board of Confluent Strategies and the Tennessee Consumer Finance Association. He attended River City Church in Bartlett. He enjoyed playing golf with his family and friends, as well as attending Memphis Grizzlies and Tigers basketball and football games. He was a loving family man who cherished his wife, sons, and grandkids. His greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren.
Dewayne is preceded in death by siblings; Jenanne Martin (Lloyd) and Carroll Anderson (Norma)
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Diane Anderson, his children; Bryan Anderson (Kristen), Austin Anderson (Kayla), Ryan Anderson (Tracy), and Stacy Weaver (John) his grandchildren; Bo, Karagan, Raegan, Parker, Taylor, Chloe, Andrea, Evan and Leah, his great grandson, Abram and his brother, James "Andy" Anderson (Barbara) and a host of nieces and nephews.
A visitation for DeWayne will be held Sunday, February 20, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133 with a funeral service to follow at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
