Rev. Martin L. Hess, 86, of Bradenton, passed away from this life on Good Friday, April 15, 2022.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carol and children, Mandy Hess, Mark (Joy) Hess, granddaughter Alaina, brother Kenneth Hess (Shiryl) and sister Jeanette (Bill) Tucker.
Martin was born on Jan. 23, 1936 in Gordon, NE. He graduated from Taylor University, Upland, IN in 1959. Martin was ordained after graduation from Candler School of Theology at Emory Univ. in Atlanta, Ga. Martin served churches in Marion and Fort Wayne areas of IN for 17 years. In Marion, he served as pastor at New Hope United Methodist Church. He retired from the North Indiana Conference and was a chaplain for 22 years at the Marion VA Hospital. Martin retired from the VA in 2001 and moved to Bradenton, FL.
In addition to being a pastor and chaplain, Martin sang in Barbershop Chorus, played and watched sports, loved woodworking, fishing and bird watching. He was dedicated to serving the Lord Jesus Christ with his life.
A celebration of life will be held on May 6 at 10 AM at the Braden River United Methodist Church at 5858 44th Ave. E., Bradenton, Fl 34203, with visitation 1/2 hour prior.
