Rev. Joe L. Kelley, age 90, of Lindale, GA, passed away on January 16, 2025.
Mr. Kelley was born in Cherokee County, Alabama, on May 26, 1934, son of the late William H. Kelley and the late Bessie Hurley Kelley. He was also preceded in death by his son, John Kelley, and his wife, Bobbie Jean Lemaster Kelley. Joe was a bi-vocational preacher for over 50 years, with the last several decades spent pastoring Providence Church in Forney, AL. After retiring from Southeastern Mills as a truck driver, Joe enjoyed more time with his grandchildren, "piddling" in the yard, gardening, reading his Bible, sitting on his front porch, and caring for his dogs. He loved to talk about hunting, fishing, and visiting Colorado, but more than anything, he cherished talking about Jesus.
Survivors include his children, Randy Kelley (Susan) and Anise Logan; grandchildren, Shane Fuqua (Amy), Corey Fuqua, Remington Kelley, Jessica Kelley Beam (Andrew), Colt Kelley (Stephanie), and Alysha Kelley; great-grandchildren, Rachel Fuqua, Ryan Fuqua, Zayden Fuqua, Nora Kelley, Anniston Beam, and Drew Beam; the loving members of Providence Church in Forney, AL, who were considered family to the Kelley's, and his Shih-Tzu-Missy.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the family of Brian and Mary Rogers for the incredible care and support they provided to Joe over the years. Brian and Mary were like children to Joe and Bobbie, and Austin and Bridgett were considered grandchildren. Their love and dedication meant the world to Joe and Bobbie, and to the entire family.
Joe's family is also deeply grateful for the care and support provided by the staff at Atrium Health (Units 5 West & 4 East), Seven Hills Square Memory Care, and Traditions Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm EST on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Providence Baptist Church, with Pastor Scott Long and Randy Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 20, 2025, from 12:00pm until 12:45pm at the church.
Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, is honored to serve the family of Rev. Joe L. Kelley.
