Rev. Harold J. Smith, Sr., died on October 6, 2019 at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital, Georgetown, SC. Funeral services were held on October 11, 2019 at Macedonia F.B.H. Church, Rev. Frank Burgess, pastor. The eulogy was delivered by Rev. Dennis Moore, pastor of Eaddy's Tabernacle.
Rev. Smith was born on July 8, 1951 in Georgetown, SC to the marital union of Mr. Henry Smith and Mrs. Lucille Stewart Smith. After graduating from Howard High School in 1971, he later furthered his studies at Horry Georgetown Technical College. On June 29, 1971, Rev. Smith enlisted into the United States Army, where he served his country honorably for twenty-eight years in both active and reserved duty, retiring from his military career on November 12, 1999. For over twenty years, he was employed with International Paper Company, until retiring in 2010. Rev. Smith was a dedicated and faithful member of Macedonia F.B.H. Church. On July 17, 1977, he was united in holy matrimony to the former Ms. Mildred Iszard. This union was blessed with five children. A son, Harold James Smith, Jr., preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mildred Iszard-Smith, Georgetown, SC; his children, Darius L. Grant, Columbia, SC, Malikah Smith, Riverside, NJ, LaQuanda Smith, Lanes, SC, and Destin Smith, of Georgetown, SC; his brother, Dennis Smith of Florida. Funeral services entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.
