Rev. Donald (Don) William Peace, age 92, of Rome, GA, entered his heavenly home on Monday, August 26, 2024.
Born in Cedartown, GA on June 24, 1932, Don was the son of the late Grady and Ella Dunn Peace. He was a graduate of West Fulton High School and attended West GA College. After honorably serving in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Antietam, Don dedicated the remainder of his life (50+ years) to serving others through Christian pastoral ministry, pastoring, bus ministries and planting many churches in the Floyd County and Cherokee County (AL) areas, teaching and leading many people to Christ. Donald also loved truck driving (OTR) for over 30 years. His happy place was being on any lake fishing, or in his front porch swing.
Donald was a devoted husband to his late wife Hazel Paralee Peace for 45 years. He is survived by his 5 children, Rick Peace (Tammy), Greg Peace (Denese), Keith Peace (Donna), Lisa Peace Tolbert (Ricky) and Janeen Peace Jordan (David); 18 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In accordance with his wishes, the family will hold a graveside service at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, at the hilltop gazebo, at 2:00pm Friday, August 30, 2024 with Chaplain Billy Murdock and David Jordan officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Hazel.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff of Floyd Hospital (4 west), 5th Avenue Health Care staff and Tapestry Hospice for their love and care of their father in his last few weeks. Also, a special thanks to the staff at Cherokee Assisted Living, Centre, AL for caring for him the past 18 months.
Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, is honored to serve the family of Mr. Donald William Peace.
