Rev. Bob Moore, 75, Mishawaka, IN, peacefully passed from this life at his home on Friday, March 4, 2022. Born August 11, 1946, in Charleston, WV, to the late Luther and Melba (Jones) Moore, he was the second child of five siblings - sister Barbara Fusco, twin brother Bill, brother Steve, who preceded him in death, and much-loved sister, Shirley Hollingsworth, Grafton, OH, who survives.
After a whirlwind romance, he married M. Monette Holland on October 11, 1977, in Memphis, TN. Bob attended Texas Bible College prior to being drafted and completed his education at Cleveland State University in with a degree in education. He served as a medic in Landstahl, Germany, where he also assisted missionaries to the American military. Although he never served as a foreign missionary, he strongly felt the burden for global missions and worked ardently to help obtain financial support.
Bob was licensed with the United Pentecostal Church, Int., for over 50 years. He was passionate about helping others pursue Christ. Rev. Moore served in Ohio as a youth pastor, assistant pastor, sectional youth director and state global missions director. In 1984, the Moore family moved to Hartford City, IN to assume their first pastorate. During his time in Hartford City, he also served as comptroller of the Indiana District Campgrounds where he spent weeks every summer, as well as sectional secretary. He became pastor of Calvary Chapel in Mishawaka/Granger in 1994, where he served for 23 years. In 2018, he retired and transitioned to the role of Bishop. Over the course of his ministry, he oversaw two Christian schools and daycare centers, which were a highlight to his days, as well as substitute teaching when in Hartford City.
Rev. Moore was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching many sporting activities, but always rooted for Ohio State. He was incredibly competitive, always looking for the win, especially during family and church game nights. He had a knack for teasing others, specifically with songs he made up on the spot. He always loved to joke and laugh with friends. He never passed up cheese, candy circus peanuts, black jellybeans or any dessert from a church potluck. His love for Diet coke was unmatched. Bob was famous for his peanut brittle, which cannot be rivaled. His generosity of time will never be quantified.
Rev. Moore is survived by his devoted wife and caregiver, Monette; cherished daughter Meridith Searfoss (Rev. Ryan) of Granger; and adored grandsons, Alexander, Nicholas and Jonathan; along with scores of people upon whom his ministry leaves an eternal impact.
A celebration of life service will be held at Calvary Chapel, 53494 Fir Rd., Granger, IN, on Saturday, March 12, at 11 am, with Pastor Ryan Searfoss officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, March 11, at the church from 5-8 pm and on Saturday an hour before the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Chapel Missions Fund.
