Retha Henley Daggett Tweedy, 99, Burlington died on August 7, 2019, at the Life Care Center of Burlington.
Retha was born January 20, 1920, in Burlington, the daughter of Jesse and Ina Wood Henley. She grew up in Burlington and attended the Burlington schools. She worked at the Farmer's Produce, Wood Perkins Department Store, and the Coffey County Treasure Office.
Retha married Landon "Stub" Daggett, September 7, 1937, at the Kelley Park Fair Grounds. They were married for 40 years. Stub died on February 17, 1977. She married Joe Tweedy on November 11, 1978, in Burlington. They moved to Iowa, until Joe died in 1993. She then moved back to Burlington to be near her family.
Retha is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Arlie) Grimm, Burlington, a son, Rick (Connie) Daggett, Topeka, two grandchildren, Aaron (Melissa) Daggett, Lawrence and Penny (Jeff) Wood, Pittsburg. Four great grandchildren, Emily and Christopher Wood of Pittsburg, and Alexis and Creighton Daggett, Lawrence, a nephew, R.E. Henley, Topeka, a niece Doris Williams of Madison, nephews Mike Henley, Texas and Jim Henley of Oklahoma, and a stepdaughter, Kay Tweedy (Greg Knowles) of Arizona.
Services will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, August 10, 2019, at the Jones Funeral Home, Burlington. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Hand in Hand Hospice or the Coffey County Cancer Support Group and can be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, P.O.
