Join us in celebrating Renea—please share your stories and photos, and help spread the word about this page!
Renea Kallai, 53, gently left this earth on February 4, 2022, surrounded in love by her family. She was born May 28, 1968 in El Paso, Texas to Richard and the late Roberta Herr.
Renea's zest for life and her laughter will be remembered long after her death. She lived her life as an adventure, from scuba diving, to making movies, traveling, and volunteering for the Olympics. Renea's philosophy was; be nice to everyone because you never know what they are experiencing. This Christian mindset guided her throughout life, and she made a lasting impact on everyone she met.
As the daughter of an optometrist, she matured into a very talented optician. Her expert customer service and eyewear styling skills gained her a local following at Kaster Eye Clinic. This work led to a career in specialized contact lens tinting and in 2018 Renea became a partner and operator of Specialty Tint Lens Lab. She was passionate about her craft and relished running a small business.
Renea embraced the Portage Lakes-Green community and bragged about having the best neighbors and friends. She was a perpetual learner, always bringing her knowledge, big heart and bright spirit into her community. Renea also enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, such as cooking, reading, and shopping, yet what brought her the most joy was being with her husband and children. Gus, Rachel and Lucien will always carry with them her smile, her exuberance, and her kindness. She will live on in our hearts forever.
Renea is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Gus; children, Lucien and Rachel; sisters, Richele Herr, Robyn (Frank Jones) Herr and Rebecca (Frank) Oaks; sisters-in-law, Jennifer Kallai and Angel (Steve) Stobaugh; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved.
Per Renea's wishes cremation has taken place and a private celebration of life will be held for close family and friends in the near future. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Happy Warrior Foundation, c/o Kaster Eye Clinic, 1600 E.
