Professional drummer and much-loved Radio DJ personality Rene Garcia went to be with our Lord on Saturday March the 6th, 2021. Rene Ramon Garcia was born in Rio Grande City, Tx. on September 14, 1948, and was a graduate of Rio Grande City High School in 1967. The eldest of three sons to Mr. and Mrs. Rodrigo and Guadalupe Garcia, Rene began his music career as a drummer for the Eliseo Smith Orchestra while yet in high school, proving soon thereafter to be an in-demand sessions drummer for other musical acts throughout the Rio Grande Valley. After graduating high school, Mr. Garcia would forge a radio-announcing career at radio stations across Southern California, before resettling in the Rio Grande Valley. He worked for the Texas State Highway Department for 25 years before retiring and returning to radio announcing. First hosting a popular daily broadcast at KIRT-AM La Fabulosa and, later, at La Tejana 88.5 FM. Mr. Garcia maintained residences in both McAllen and Alamo, Texas. Rene leaves behind his loving wife Mrs. Graciela 'Gracie' Garcia; his daughter Mrs. Monica Morales & Husband Juan as well as grandson Esai Morales. Rene Ramon Garcia is likewise survived by his father Mr. Rodrigo H. Garcia, Sr. of Rio Grande City, Tx.; younger brothers Ricardo Alfonso Garcia of Mission, Tx., and Rodrigo Garcia Jr. of New York City, NY. He will be greatly missed as a caring Son, Husband, Father, and Grandfather. Viewings and Funeral Services to be conducted at Sanchez Funeral Home in Rio Grande City, Texas.
