Rene Flurey Jr., 85 years, passed away on January 31, 2021 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 9, 1936 in Manchester, New Hampshire and was the son of the late Rene and Agnes (Lavigne) Flurey.
Rene attended Manchester High School Central.
Rene was especially proud of his service to his country. He was a member of the US Marine Corps. During the Korean Conflict, Rene served in the US Marine Corps Infantry in Japan. He completed his service as a Military Policeman at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in New Hampshire. He was a forklift operator at Auclair Transportation and Yellow Freight. He was a member of Teamsters Local 633, Retired Teamsters Local 633 and Sweeney Post American Legion 2. Rene was known as a hard worker in every aspect of his life.
Rene leaves behind his wife, Joan (Sullivan) Flurey; his son, David and wife, Nicole; son, Michael and partner, Kelly Johnnett; his grandchildren, Sam, Erin, Shay, and Michael Rene; as well as his brother ,David and wife Linda; brother-in-law, Frank Farella; and several nieces and nephews.
Rene was predeceased by a brother, John "Jack" Flurey; and a sister, Arlene Farella.
For forty-nine years Rene and his wife, Joan, made a loving home for their children and a welcoming home for the many members of the large family Rene married into. He took great pride in his home and maintaining the nicest yard in the neighborhood. Rene was much-loved and much-admired. He was the beloved grandfather and go-to uncle for nieces and nephews in their times of need and success. Rene had a unique way of making all of his family members feel that they were special to him. He cherished his role as a grandfather and made each grandchild feel that they were his favorite.
The family would like to thank the hospice caregivers of the Visiting Nurse Association for their compassionate care and the support they gave to the family.

Services: A walk-through wake with strict social distancing, masks and restricted contact with the family will be held Friday, February 5, 2021 from 4 to 7 PM at Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union Street, Manchester, NH.
Private burial with military honors will take place in New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
