Renae Jacobsen (Jacobson), age 60, of Badger, SD, was called to her heavenly home on January 22, 2022, in her home after a hard-fought and courageous battle with breast cancer. Renae was born in Watertown, SD on August 15, 1961, to David & Dorothy (Ries) Jacobson. She grew up in Watertown with her three brothers. Growing up with these three, helped mold her into a very strong and spunky woman. Renae graduated from Watertown High School in 1979. Following high school, she began working at Bartron Clinic in Watertown. Renae found her "home" in the love of her life, Mark Jacobsen. Mark always said he "won the lottery" when he got her; and that he most certainly did. Renae was a kind, caring, compassionate, loving, and selfless woman. Mark and Renae were married on September 1, 1984, at the Lake Preston Lutheran Church. They began their life together in Miller, SD where Renae worked at Coast to Coast, then at Hand County State Bank for 10 years before returning to rural Lake Preston to Mark's family farm. She worked at Spectrum Photography for 12 years before she took a job at Lake Norden Family Chiropractor where she worked for 12 years. Mark & Renae's first two children were boys, Jordan Anthony and Tanner Colin. And her first 6 grandchildren were boys: Jace, Maddox, Kemp, Jrue, Seager & Jett. A girl finally joined the family in Mark & Renae's daughter, Cassie Leigh. Renae was thrilled when Cassie gave birth to her first granddaughter, aptly named Mya Renae. Renae's kids and grandkids were her absolute pride and joy. Renae most enjoyed spending time with her family and having her grandkids out to the farm. She could often be found watching her kids (and more recently, grandkids) play sports as well as every other activity they were in. She was so proud of all of them and never missed an opportunity to tell them. Renae loved to read, listen to music (and sing and dance in the kitchen with her grandkids), shop with her daughter, bake (especially chocolate chip cookies), take pictures, and send greeting cards for every occasion (she never missed a birthday, anniversary, etc.). Left to honor Renae's memory include her husband of 37 years, Mark; sons Jordan (Janae) Jacobsen of Brookings, Tanner (Aleece) Jacobsen of Badger; daughter Cassie (Dylan) Brugman of Crooks; 7 grandchildren (Jace, Maddox, Kemp, Jrue, Seager, Jett, & Mya Renae); brothers Chris (Pam) Jacobson of Watertown, Rick Jacobson of Watertown, & Tim Jacobson of Rochester; father & mother-in-law Farrel & Linda Jacobsen of Badger; sisters-in-law Kim (Lenny) Schroeder of Selby, Sheri (Ron) Longville of Brookings; and many nieces and nephews. Renae was greeted in heaven by her parents, David & Dorothy Jacobson; her maternal & paternal grandparents; mother-in-law, Marlys Jacobsen; & sister-in-law Trish Jacobson. In lieu of gifts, the family requests donations be made in memory of Renae to the Prairie Lakes Cancer Center in Watertown, SD; Avera Cancer Institute in Sioux Falls (Dr. Jason Jones Team); Sanford Pediatric Oncology in Sioux Falls. Family strongly requests masks for visitation and funeral. Funeral services for Renae will be at 10:30 am on Friday, January 28, 2022 at the Badger Lutheran Church in Badger, SD with Pastor Brian Ricki officiating, burial will be in the Badger Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm at the Johnson-Henry Funeral Home in Arlington and preceding services in the church.
