Regina Anne White, ne? Horton, passed into God's graceful hands on May 11, 2021 at Berkshire Medical Center In Pittsfield, Massachusetts. She was 96 years old. Regina had been ill for only a few days and at the time of her passing she was surrounded by her daughters and grandchildren with prayers and love. She ushered in her children's first breaths as newborns, and they were there to honor and witness her last.
Regina, the firstborn daughter of Earl and Anna O'Donnell Horton, came into this world in Springfield, Massachusetts. She spent her formative years in Rhode Island, with her younger brother, Earl. The family eventually returned to Massachusetts, settling in Lee, Massachusetts.
Regina was a graduate of Lee High School and worked at the General Electric Company as a payroll clerk until the time of her marriage to Bill White of Dalton, Massachusetts. They raised their family of four children in the house Bill built on Park Avenue in Dalton. There, Regina truly shined. Every year, she and Bill planted a large vegetable garden, harvested for summer suppers and for vegetables put up for the cold months ahead.
Regina was a volunteer Campfire Girls leader, guiding a pack of younger girls, called Bluebirds. There her patience and skills at sewing and crafts were integral, admired, and remembered by many.
Regina was also a spectacular cook and baker. She lived for her hours in the kitchen, creating breads and stews, cobblers, and her favorite cookies. Kitchen skills came naturally to Regina; it was in her DNA. Her father was a chef and her mother, too was a fine cook. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing and rag rug making.
