On Saturday evening at 11p.m., on January 22, 2022, at Turkey Creek Medical Center in Knoxville, TN, Rebecca Louise Watkins, age 67, took her final labored breath on this earth and her first perfectly healed one in the presence of her Savior.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Nancy Jean (Watrous) Watkins and James Edward Watkins, and brothers, James Chester "Chuck" Watkins and Clifford Edward "Eddie" Watkins. Beck is survived by many who loved her, including best friend, Debbie Key, Conan and Brandee Vandergriff and goddaughter, Abbey, goddaughter, Emmaleigh and Jacob Wyrick, and Melanie, goddaughter, Rebecca and Mark Nitzband, and Mireya; nephews, Ryan and Jeremy Watkins, Ben Watkins, and niece, Sara Wood.
Becky, or Beck as she was affectionately known, lived a full life in her short 67 years. She was a faithful Christ-follower, a powerful prayer warrior, a fierce friend, a dedicated alum of the Everett Bulldog Marching Band, a devoted church member, a talented musician, and a successful entrepreneur. Beck loved cutting hair, mowing, laying out by her pool, the beach (Daytona the best), Tennessee Sports, Disney, music, and being with her loved ones. She was one of the most generous, friendly, protective, helpful, serving, hard-working people ever, and she will be missed enormously. The grief felt by those who loved her most cannot be put into words, but only felt in the heart. Thankfully, we do not grieve as those who have no hope, for since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, through Jesus, God will bring with Him when He returns those who have gone before us. (1 Thess 4:13-14) The Bible also promises in 1 Corinthians 13 that love endures forever. So, we know that while we who remain obviously still love her in her absence, we can also take immeasurable comfort in the promise that her big love for us did not end with her death but continues as well.
A celebration of Beck's life will be held at First Baptist Alcoa, 819 Gilbert Street, on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 7:00p.m. The family will welcome friends before the service from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Beck's memory to a church charity of your choice.
