Raymond Richard Schuller (85) of Tellico Village passed away on January 7, 2022.
He was born in Cleveland, OH and grew up in Parma, OH. He was a member of the first class to graduate from the (then) new Parma Senior High School. After graduating from Fenn College (now Cleveland State University) with a BME degree, he enlisted in the Ohio National Guard, where he served for 4 1/2 years. He started work for General Motors Corporation in 1961 at the Cleveland Army Tank Automotive Plant as an engineer building military vehicles. In 1972 he transferred to Electro Motive Division of GM in LaGrange, IL, working on locomotives. In 1974 he transferred to Military Vehicles Organization in Detroit working on the M1 battle tank. In 1977 he returned to EMD, where he finished his career. He worked for GM for 30 years, but never worked on cars.
He met his wife, Louise, at ballroom dance lessons for young adults. They were married in 1967. They have been dancing ever since. They retired to the Tellico Village community from the Chicago area in 1997. He enjoyed bridge, golf, and square dancing with the Little T's and Tiptoppers square dance clubs. He was a member of the Tellico Village Community Church, where he served as an usher and Director of Ushers for 20 years.
He is preceded in death by his father John W. and mother Lucille (nee Pirc) Schuller; sister Norene Lemon and granddaughter Amber Rose Ostis. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 55 years Louise (nee Reimer); daughters Carole (David) Stojetz and Roberta (Ron) Ostis; grandsons Bradley and Justin Stojetz and Anthony Ostis; sisters Sandra E. Pierce and Sharon D. Peake.
A celebration of Ray's life will be held at Tellico Village Community Church at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tellico Village Community Church, 130 Chota Center, Loudon, TN 37774.
