Raymond "Ray" Turpin, age 92, of Bloomington, Indiana passed away at Stonecroft Health Campus in Bloomington on Monday, March 21, 2022. He was born in Monroe County, Indiana on February 23, 1930 to Roscoe and Mary (Holland) Turpin. Ray graduated from University High School in Bloomington. He worked at RCA for 38 years, Bender Lumber for 10 years, and was a crossing guard at Templeton Elementary School in Bloomington for 11 years. Ray enjoyed IU Basketball, NASCAR, and woodworking. He was a member of Westside Assembly of God for 54 years. Ray served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Ray is survived by his daughters, Debra Gries (Patrick), Denise Parrish, and Dee Dee Turpin, grandchildren, Troy Gries, Gwyn Bernal, Ryan Parrish, Brian Gries, and Stacy Shellhaas, 12 great-grandchildren, and brother, Donald Turpin.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Alice (Wood) Turpin, parents, and siblings.
Visitation for Ray will be from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM on Friday, March 25, 2022 at Westside Assembly of God Church, 1409 W. Kirkwood Ave. Bloomington, Indiana.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Friday at Westside Assembly of God Church, with burial to follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens in Bloomington. Jonathan Taylor will officiate.
