On Sunday July 17, 2022, Raymond A. Poisson, age 82 passed peacefully at home in Summerfield, FL surrounded by his family after battling bladder cancer.
Raymond is survived by his wife Claudette Poisson after celebrating their 61st anniversary. He is survived by his daughter Michelle Poisson of Woonsocket, RI, and Renee Lemay and her husband Paul of Summerfield, FL. He has a grandson Jonathan Lemay and his wife Danielle of North Smithfield, RI and a granddaughter Stephanie Lemay and her fianc? Joshua Masse of North Smithfield, RI. He also has a great granddaughter Madelyn of North Smithfield, RI. His two sisters Florence St. Pierre and her husband Armand and Lucille Poisson and her husband Richard along with many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in his passing by his parents Henri J. Poisson and Laura D. Poisson, his son Marc Poisson, His sister Therese Perron, and two brothers Albert Poisson and Arthur Poisson.
Raymond was born on December 21, 1939, in Manville, RI. He worked for many years at Dunne Ford in Providence, RI as an Auto-body repair technician ending his career at Bernier's Auto Sales in Woonsocket, RI.
Raymond was a devout Catholic and a lifelong member of St. James Church in Manville, RI. Raymond enjoyed daily walks throughout his neighborhood in Florida especially when his great granddaughter Madelyn would come to visit. He enjoyed spending time assisting his son-in-law Paul with upkeep and repairs around the houses. He also enjoyed challenging Claudette in various card game or dominoes every day.
A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at 11:00am at St. James Church, 33 Division Street, Manville, RI. Visitation hour will be at 10:00am. The burial service with be held at St. James Cemetery in Manville RI. A reception will follow at Edgewood Yacht Club, 3 Shaw Avenue, Cranston, RI.
