Raymond was born September 11, 1939, in Carson to John, Sr. and Emma (Nagel) Hintz. He attended country school and then attended school in Brisbane, ND. Raymond dedicated his life to the family farm, which was homesteaded by his grandparents in 1905. Raymond married the love of his life, Barbara (Wutzke) Hintz on January 16, 1999. They worked side by side, running the family farm until they retired in 2004.
In addition to farming and ranching Raymond felt fulfilled by helping others. He thoroughly enjoyed being a board member of the Brisbane Township, a school bus driver, and investing many hours volunteering at the Carson food pantry. Raymond also worked as a family commercial truck driver, at Pete Bader construction, Metz Meat Market, and as a road maintainer operator for Grant County.
Raymond was a hard worker but took time to enjoy life by bowling, playing cards/Poker with friends, taking many trips to the casino with his "Barbie/Sweetheart," and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Raymond was proud to recite prayers and poems he had memorized since childhood. He spent many hours canning tomatoes and helping Barb in the kitchen making blachinda and homemade noodles. Raymond made certain the trees, flowers, and garden were always watered.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Barb; sons, Jerome, Jr. (Terisina) Hintz (grandchildren: Coty, Joshua (Benny), Sean, Breece (Derek); Wayne (Becky) Hintz (grandchildren: Madyson and Isaac); daughter Roxy (Corey) Voegele (grandchildren: Jess (Chance), Cordel, Clarissa, and Corbin); great-grandchildren Jaxon, Ruby, and Ari; Sister Rose Hintz; brothers, Jerome, Sr., Theodore; and many nieces and nephews.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother and sister; brother, John, Jr.; and his in-laws, Ervin and Gladys Wutzke.
Cards can be mailed to Barbara Hintz, 405 N Grant St. Carson, ND 58529.
