Raymond R. Dubreuil, 79, of Canaan, VT, died peacefully at the Coos County Nursing Hospital on Monday, Dec. 23, 2019, after a 3-year battle with Lewy body dementia.
Predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Aldea (Paulin) Dubreuil, and brother, Leon, Ray is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Gail Fisher, and 5 children: Nicole (Ed) Heroux of Belchertown, MA; Steven (Laura) Dubreuil of Chicopee, MA; Thomas (Lisa) Dubreuil of Bethlehem, PA; Deborah Van Marter (Todd) of Franklin, MA; and Scott Fisher (Kristin) of Sudbury, MA. Ray was also a loving Grandpa and Pepe to 8 grandchildren (Jacob, Zach, Jack, Emily, Rebecca, Andrew, Avigail, and Luke).
He was born on June 8, 1940, in Montague City, MA, and grew up in Turners Falls, MA. Ray spent later years in Chicopee, MA, West Dover, VT, and most recently in Canaan where he and Gail built their dream log home on 11 acres on the Vermont snowmobile trail system. Ray was a graduate of Turners Falls High School and Western New England College, and had a 40+ year career with MassMutual in Springfield. He also spent 30 years on the Mount Tom ski patrol, and coached the Chicopee Comp High School ski team. He was most proud to have attained the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.
Ray lived an active life sharing many hobbies and passions with Gail, including traveling the country in their motor home, grooming, showing and breeding their beloved Scottish Terrier dogs, skiing, snowmobiling, and riding their Harleys.
For so many reasons, Ray's memory will live on. The lives of his family were enriched by having known and been loved by him. We invite you to join us in thinking fondly of Ray each time you see a motorcyclist enjoying their ride, skiers gliding down a trail or beautiful Scotties at a dog show. May Ray rest in peace.
Ray's funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020, at St. Paul's Church in Lancaster, NH. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, Jan. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook, NH. A burial service will be conducted at Brookside Cemetery in Easthampton, MA, on Monday, Jan. 6, at 11 a.m.
Expressions of sympathy in memory of Ray may be made to the North Country Community Recreation Center at 33 Rec Center Road, Colebrook, NH, 03576, where Ray volunteered on the Board of Directors and often enjoyed swimming and water aerobics in its beautiful indoor pool.
