Together we celebrate a bittersweet moment in life, the passing of a father, grand-father, and friend Raymond "Boy" Duran.
Ray was born in Ventura, Ca. in '42, raised in Saticoy, and called Oxnard home. Before enlisting into the United States Marine Corp in 1964, Ray spent his youth and college years playing and exceling in several sports. Recognized with multiple baseball and basketball awards, Ray proved himself as a formidable athlete on the field and courts. In his later life, he was considered a great racquetball player, winning several tournaments throughout the years. With an expressive and spirited outlook on life Ray created friendships that would last a lifetime. He shared life with family and friends, loving others through jokes, crazy stories, and nicknames.
Ray was a proud father and grandfather and will be missed. He leaves behind son Ray Duran Jr. and daughter Amber (Duran) Bolanos, her husband Tony, as well as grandchildren Augustine, Anela, and Adele Bolanos. There are many others who shared life with Ray and will also miss him. Karin Romo, husband Leonard and Children Eddie Jr, Amanda, and Aundria and grandchildren Aiden and Harlow who Ray loved as his own.
Ray went home to be with the Lord on May 14th, he passed in his sleep with his daughter by his side. And though we mourn, through faith, we celebrate that we will see him again.
Also, a great thanks to Ray's compadres Leonard and Grace "Chickie" Urquidez who were also there to help Ray till the end...thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
