Raymon Adele Russell Adkins was born on October 18, 1924 in Folkston, GA, where she grew up on her parents' farm. She was the daughter of Hettie R. Howard and Arthur Raymond Russell. Adele Adkins passed away on December 15, 2020 at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater after suffering from heart complications during her rehabilitation from hip surgery. By any measure, she lived a healthy life full of friends and family. Adele Adkins is survived by sister Sara Katherine Dixon, daughter Janet and son Russell. She will be interred at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park in Largo alongside husband John. A remembrance gathering for family and friends is planned for mid-2021 in Fernandina Beach, once the threat of the Coronavirus has subsided. Adele Adkins had four sisters and one brother. Pearl, Barbara, Violet, and Arthur Raymond are deceased, and Sara Katherine Russell Dixon resides in Fernandina Beach. In Jacksonville she met John E. Adkins, whom she married on October 21, 1944. During the couple's early years, they had two children, Russell and Janet who currently reside in the Tampa Bay area. A second son, Mark, was born in 1964, but passed away in 2019. Adele had two grandchildren, Jennifer Adkins, and Lesley Adkins Staton, who is married to Robert Staton, and three grandchildren, Keller Adkins, Ella Staton and Luke Staton. Adele and John had relocated from Cleveland OH to Phoenix AZ as John advanced in his career. After John retired, they remained in their Phoenix home until John passed away in 2001. Adele then relocated to the Tampa Bay area to be near her daughter Jan, and later, son Russ. Adele Adkins loved to live life at its fullest. She will be remembered for her passion, curiosity and her lust for learning and experiencing different places and people.
