William Rayford Scoggins was born in Pedenville, Georgia December. 10, 1948 to the late William Frank Scoggins and Isma Virginia Quick Scoggins and died July 8, 2022, in Hampton, Georgia.
He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, George Washington Scoggins and Lillie Francis Adams Scoggins and Early Quick and Ora Lee Allison Quick; his first wife, Catherine Coe Scoggins; daughter, Cynthia Scoggins; brother, Frank Nesby Scoggins; brothers-in-law, William Myles (Billy) Wilkerson and Mark Bernard Pryor.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Pat) Scoggins; daughter, Katherine Rhonda Ard (Byron); sons: Rayford Frank "Andy-Drew" (Chasity) Scoggins, Jonathan Courtney Scoggins (Kathy), Christopher Zane Scoggins (Sheri) and stepson, Rusty McNally (Myrna).
Grandchildren: Brittney (Jeremy) Gross, Ashley Nixon, Bailey Ussery, Marissa Scoggins, Josie Rae Schafer, Diana Brooke Munoz, Tory Scoggins, and Owen Scoggins.
Great Grandchildren: Waylon and Brinley Gross, Hadlee Nixon, Iris Koskela, Cooper Alen Munoz, and Dakota James Munoz.
Sisters: Evelyn Wilkerson, Ann Brooks, Annie Mae (Sonny) Gwyn, Ruth Chambers, Edna Wilson, and Gail
Scoggins-Pryor.
Brothers: Raybon (Patricia) Scoggins, Virgil (Bunny)Scoggins.
Sisters-in-law: Phylis Scoggins and Bonnie Spivey.
And a host of nieces and nephews.
Rayford began his working career for Everett Patton in Griffin before entering his longtime career with Gold Kist in Griffin and then became self-employed through Gold Kist crop/land fertilizer with his own truck.
Rayford was an avid fisherman on the banks of a river only, no lakes or ponds for him. He loved having his family and friends over for an almost weekly fish fry. He enjoyed his friends and Moose Lodge Families and enjoyed dancing to the beat of any music he heard. In his later years, he enjoyed once again having his own garden and plowing the land even though he grew up working hard in the fields and crops for his father and Lanier Johnson.
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Hollonville Cemetery.
Haisten McCullough Funeral Home, 1155 Everee Inn Road, Griffin is in charge of arrangements.
