Randy Lynn Hendrickson passed away in Tyler on Monday, June 10, 2024, after a long bout with dementia. He was born April 6, 1955 in Austin, Texas to Lee Roy Hendrickson and Lynette Tunnell Hendrickson. Randy was a gentle, quiet, laid back and caring person who always had a smile on his face. He was known and loved by the staff at Brookdale Dementia Center who all called him Smiley. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He attended John Tyler High School, Tyler Junior College and graduated from The University of Texas with a degree in Business Administration. Most of Randy's working career was involved with Engineering and Manufacturing Companies in the Oil and Gas Industry. He was a purchasing agent for Marsco, Petrofac and Chicago Bridge and Iron in Tyler for forty years.
He loved to garden and always had a garden growing and a variety of house plants flourishing. He was an avid fisherman from the time he was a youngster until he started battling dementia. He loved to quail, dove and duck hunt with his friends, uncles and brother. He was also a serious Texas Longhorn fan beginning in his childhood. He was a member and very active in Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his sisters, Sandy Owens of Lubbock and Rosa Magana of Spring; brother, Greg and wife Delores Hendrickson of Tyler; nephews, Scott Hendrickson of Pearland and Brent Magana of Spring; nieces, Julie and husband Nathan Fleischmann of Georgetown and Laura Magana of Spring; great-niece, Melanie Hendrickson of Pearland; and great-nephews, Michael Hendrickson of Pearland and Harper and Jack Fleischmann of Georgetown.
A special thanks to the entire caring and loving staff of Brookdale Dementia Center for the care and concern they expressed for Randy.
There will be a memorial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those who wish, please to make a donation to their local Alzheimer's Association.
