Randy Thomas Havins passed away on Saturday May 28, 2022, at Hendrick Hospice in Abilene. He was born on Aug. 13, 1961, in Abilene to Dale and Doris Havins of Baird.
Randy lived an extraordinary life in 60 short years. He grew up in Baird, spending most of his childhood at the Baird City jail visiting his grandmother Ola and granddad Sheriff Homer Price. Randy and his brother Benny grew up huntin' and fishin'. Randy had a passion for country life with a little city life thrown in. He attended Baird ISD from kindergarten through Senior year.
After high school Randy joined the Air Force and attended the police academy, gaining his Peace Officers License. He settled in Sweetwater, where here he and his first wife Delores Torrez had one child, Kimberly. He worked for the TSTC security department.
He later moved back to Baird to raise his daughter in his hometown. They spent many wonderful years living with his mother and sharing endless memories. He took care of his mother in her later years along side his teenage daughter. He worked hard and took great care of both. He loved going to family and school events in Baird.
Randy worked for Hendrick Medical Center security from 1996 until retirement in 2019. Randy always had a passion for work, and people. During this time, he worked part-time at Hardin Simmons Police Department. He then went to work at the Callahan County Sheriffs department as a Deputy, bailiff, and City Marshall. Randy was a jack of all trades and built strong relationships with people he knew.
In 2005 while working at Hendrick Medical center Randy met Rhonda Williams while on patrol at Mesa Springs. After a year of dating, they were married in Baird on February 17, 2006. Randy became a stepdad to Lydia, Mike, and Tim. Throughout their marriage Randy was a loving husband, treating Rhonda and her children with kindness, love, and respect. Rhonda would travel with him for work related events and family affairs. They were always together and enjoyed each other's company. They shared a beautiful, wonderful life together filled with love. They were blessed that God placed them into each other's life.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Doris Havins; grandparents, Sheriff Homer Price, and Ola Price, T.A. & Cleta Havins and Mary Lee Havins: brother Benny Havins; Uncles Rondal and Don Price, Delton Havins' Aunts Laverne Havins-Phillips, Laverne Wilkinson.
Survivors include his wife Rhonda; Daughter Kimberly; Stepdaughter Lydia Doescher; Stepson's Michael and Timothy Williams, all of Abilene; step-grandchildren, Faith and Michael Doescher, Braylen Williams, Jordans Williams, Xander Williams and Christian Williams; Aunts Jackie Pruet, Lilly Price, and Peggy Moore; uncle Nelson Edwards; and cousins: Pam, Les, Larry, Ronny, Mike, Brenda, Donna, Chris, Jerry, Janine, Craig, and Kamie
Randy was special. He dedicated his life to serving others. He was loved by many. He always tried to help and do the right thing. He is missed by everyone, especially his wife and daughter.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday, June 3, 2022, at Parker-Jacobs Funeral Home in Baird. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, June 4, 2022, at First Baptist Church Baird, with burial to follow in Ross Cemetery.
