Randolph Bennett "Randy" Prather, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2022 at his home.
Born on August 21, 1948 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Frank Prather and Jane Prather. Randy served in the U. S. Air Force before being Honorably Discharged at the rank of Sergeant in 1970. He then worked for A & P, later becoming Super Fresh, as the Produce Manager for many years. After retiring, Randy was a math tutor with Huntington Learning Center for 20 years and would substitute teach for the Charles County Public Schools for 25 years, Randy was a Scout Leader for Troop 1776. He is known for making writing pens in wood and acrylic. Randy enjoyed playing golf, Ten Pin bowling in leagues in Waldorf and working in his yard.
In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by his sister Pamela Christian; father-in-law Bill Ogden.
He is survived by his wife Mary Anne Prather; children Kimberly Prather and Christopher Prather; grandchildren Kayla and her husband Cody, Cassie, Devyn and her fianc? Kyle, Becca and her fianc? Cody, and Tre; great grandchildren Gavin, Grayson, Gannon, and Gabriella; brothers Dennis Prather and Keith Prather; mother-in-law Keets Ogden.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 from 10AM until time of service at 12Noon at Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland.
Interment to follow at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, Maryland 20623 at 1:45PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association or Wounded Warrior Project.
