Ramona "Mona" Lerma was the first born of seven children to Miguel and Hilaria Figueroa. Her parents immigrated from Atoyac, Jalisco, Mexico and came to live in Oxnard. She attended the original Our Lady of Guadalupe School. Before marriage, she lovingly helped her parents, as a migrant worker in Hollister, Ca and recalled those days as some of the happiest times of her life. She also was employed at the Oxnard Lemon Packing House before marrying Benjamin C. Lerma in 1949 and moved to Los Angeles. They had five children; Benny, Michael, Richard, Rose Mary and Robert. Also raising granddaughter, Tanya. Ramona was preceded in death by husband, Benjamin and their four sons. She is survived by daughter, Rose Mary Lerma, 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren. Surviving brothers: Max and Jose Figueroa. Also preceded in death are sisters; Mary Alonzo and Margaret Alvarado and brothers; Miguel and Manuel Figueroa.
