a lifelong resident of Brownsville, Texas, peacefully passed away on January 18, 2021 after a long and fruitful life. He was a young 94-year-old who enjoyed sports, golfing, bowling, fishing, dancing and loved telling jokes. During his lifetime, he was well known by many as the "life of the party", a good Christian man, a loving father to his three children, and as a friend to many. Ramon worked for many years in the furniture business. After beginning work at Bradford Furniture in 1947, he continued his furniture career with Economy Furniture Store owned by Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Givers in downtown Brownsville. Ramon then opened his own business in 1972, "Franco's Furniture Warehouse" which he owned and operated for 25 years. One of Ramon's favorite lifelong accomplishments was being incredibly involved with the East Brownsville Little League, where he coached his sons (of whom he was very proud) on the First National Bank sponsored team. He guided his team to five league championships as well as to a city championship. He enjoyed displaying his Little League Trophies at home and it was often a topic of reminiscing conversation. Besides being an avid fisherman, golfer and bowler, Ramon was also a very good handy man. He loved building things such as picnic tables and swing benches. He and his wife Clara, also loved gardening. Ramon would also be on call for any handiwork needed by his three children and enjoyed it very much. Ramon always made the best of every situation and kept a positive attitude throughout his life. His sense of humor, his story telling, his good example and wisdom will be sorely missed by his family and all who knew him and by those who met him for the first time. Ramon Franco was preceded in death by his parents, Mateo Franco and Clemencia Gonzalez Franco as well as his siblings; Juanita Campos, Concepcion Gonzalez, Clemencia Rivera, Ernestina Salinas, Diana Ochoa and Roberto Franco.
