Funeral Service for Ralph Jacob Stevens, 84, of Aberdeen will be 10:30 am Saturday, March 6, 2021 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Ralph said casual attire is a must. The service will be live streamed and available at www.Carlsenfh.com under Ralph's obituary.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military rites.
There will be visitation Friday from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
Ralph died Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Ralph Jacob Stevens, son of Clarence and Margaret (Herther) Stevens was born April 30, 1936 at Hecla, SD. He received his education in Aberdeen and starting at the age of 13, he began working as a professional painter. In 1953, he enlisted into the United States Marine Corp and was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA, and Japan, working as a tank mechanic. He was honorably discharged in 1956. He then made his home in Oakland and Fremont, CA where he worked as a painting contractor.
Ralph was united in marriage to Dianna Erlenbusch on December 26, 1965 in Fremont, CA. With this union, three daughters were born. In 1969, Ralph moved to Pheasant Lake near Ellendale, ND, and continued to work as a painting contractor. In 1975, he moved to Aberdeen.
Ralph was united in marriage to Eunice Mohr Schaible on June 19, 1987 in Aberdeen, SD. Ralph and Eunice became a duo in the painting contracting business and were well known in the region for their work ethic and pristine craftsmanship in their trade. They retired in 2019.
Ralph enjoyed working in his yard and gardening. Over the years, they lived in five homes that they personally renovated.
Ralph was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Sidney L. Smith American Legion Post #24.
Grateful for having shared Ralph's life are his wife, Eunice; three daughters, Nicole (Trent) Davis of Murrieta, CA, Michelle (James) Radlinski of Wildomar, CA and DezRae (Frank) Cuomo of Santa Clarita, CA; two step-sons, Kyle Schaible of Rapid City, SD and Eric (Becky) Schaible of Watertown, SD; three grandchildren, Hailey Gross and Peyton and Kendall Cuomo; two step-grandsons, Drake Rust and Dylan Schaible; two brothers, Quintin (Nancy) Stevens of Baltimore, MD and George (Janet) Stevens of Bloomington, MN and one sister, Betty (Sid) Beckler of Aberdeen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant sister and two brothers, Donald, and Paul.
Casketbearers will be Kyle Schaible, Eric Schaible, Dylan Schaible, Trent Davis, Revi Schaible, Paula Beckler, Corey Kauk and Travis Anliker.
