Ralph Webb, Jr., also known as "Pop", passed peacefully on Monday May 2, 2022. He was born July 18, 1932 in Lockport, NY and is the son of the late Reverend Ralph Webb, Sr. and Gertrude Webb.
Ralph graduated from Rochester Business Institute and St. John Fisher College. He served during the Korean War. While he was a VP of Sales for a few companies, he was the proudest of the small business he started and worked hard at for 35 years. He met his wife, Joyce Jenkins, through a friend on a blind date in Charlotte, NC while there for business. They were inseparable from that moment, married six months later, and had 46 wonderful years together until her passing. We know they are now reunited again - he missed her beyond words.
Ralph was an incredibly kind, loving, and giving man who touched lives through his compassion and wisdom. His sense of humor and quick wit made others laugh. He loved his family and friends deeply - and was also a lover of history, all music (especially jazz), animals and nature, dark chocolate, crossword puzzles, and the Lord. His faith always guided him.
In his later years he loved to go to the Cajun Queen to listen to jazz - and was often driven there by some of his loyal friends (including the band members). He was a man who always kept his promises - one to his 4th grade daughter who he'd crawled in a closest to sit with because she didn't want to move again for his work. He told her before she started High School he would start his own business, move back to Charlotte, and she would have all four years in one school - and years later that is what he did. When his wife Joyce was in Hospice for several weeks he never left her side. A Hospice nurse said watching his devotion taught her that she wanted to marry a man just like Ralph - and she promptly ended her engagement to start over, after witnessing the precious gift of everlasting love between two people. He often said if you have just one true friend throughout your life you are blessed - Ralph was blessed many times over.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by four siblings.
Ralph is survived by his daughter, Lise Webb Johnson who loved and adored her dad dearly, his son-in-law, Robert Webb; his grandsons, Conner Johnson, Henry Johnson, Oliver Webb, Hunter Webb and his wife, Caroline Webb; and his great-grandson, Charles Webb.
An interment service will be held on Saturday, May 14th at 1:00 pm in the church columbarium at Myers Park United Methodist Church, where Ralph will finally be reunited with his wife Joyce. He is home at last.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Myers Park United Methodist Church, 1501 Queens Rd. Charlotte, NC 28207.
Service arrangements are with Brown-Wynne, 300 Saint Mary's St., Raleigh, NC.
