Raffaele G. Donatantonio, 83, of the Whiting section of Manchester passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at home. Born in Salerno, Italy, he moved to Venezuela at age 14, and later to Brooklyn, in 1957. He lived there and in Staten Island before settling in Whiting after his retirement.
Mr. Donatantonio was a cabinet maker, and was the owner and operator of Falcone and Son, Brooklyn, for many years. He later worked in the kitchen design department at Lowes, Manchester. He was a passionate bowler, and enjoyed tinkering and fixing things. More than anything, he enjoyed time spent with his family, particularly his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His wife, Giuseppinna, passed away in 2020. He is survived by his children, Gaetano and his wife Rita of Staten Island, Laura Sorci and her husband Alessandro of Whiting, and Ralph and his wife Connie of Old Bridge; his grandchildren, Sofia, Nicole, Alex and his wife Emily, Dante, Sabrina, and Chiara; his great-grandchildren, Alex Jr. and Aviana Rose; and his sisters, Giana Romeo of Albany, Paula Fontana of Neptune, and Maria Rosaria Sarafini of Albany.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 4-8pm at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A funeral serivce will be offered at 7:45pm at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
