Phyllis Ann Wright transitioned to her heavenly home on May 5, 2023. Phyllis married the love of her life, Robert L Wright on November 2, 1952. Phyllis and Bob had six children, Terri (Roger) Wilson, Tim (Cindy) Wright, Tom (Rhonda) Wright, Tonia (Hubert) Nolen, Tami (Tim) Hickerson, and Tracy (Beth) Wright. The six became 12, the 12 blessed them with 23 grandchildren that became 42, the 42 blessed them with 52 great-grandchildren that became 53, and the 53 blessed them with 3 great-great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews had a special relationship with Aunt Phyllis. Phyllis and Bob welcomed every addition with love and enjoyed every moment spent and memory made with family. Phyllis was blessed to live at home under the excellent care of her husband, caregivers Darlene & Jesse Parker and Tina Johnson, and Suburban Hospice.
Phyllis and Bob began their 70-year adventure in Upland, Indiana. They lived in an apartment above the bank. They eventually moved to the Shirley, Indiana area where they built a home, life, and legacy.
Phyllis was a big sports fan, especially any sport her children and grandchildren played. Even when she was unable to go in person, she would watch games online and relive her favorite plays and questionable calls for years! In her younger years, she liked golfing and bowling with friends.
Phyllis also crocheted and cross-stitched. She was such a perfectionist you couldn't tell the front from the back of her cross-stitch pieces. In her later years, she worked to ensure every grandchild had a special hand crotched blanket.
In addition to her love for family, Phyllis was an avid gardener, shopper, and had quite a sweet tooth. She loved chocolate, ice cream, cookies, candy, and more chocolate. She enjoyed working in her backyard garden and sharing her love of flowers with her children and grandchildren. Whenever Phyllis found something she liked, whether it was a gadget, blanket or underwear, she bought enough to share when family came to visit. She also enjoyed her devices. From her iPhone to iPad, Apple Watch to Macbook, she enjoyed communicating with friends and family, playing games, and shopping.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, John & Bertha (Futrell) Florea; siblings Betty Howard, Rolland Florea, and Raymond Florea; grandson David Nolen; and great-granddaughter Rhea Kleine and great-granddaughter Emmie Brooks. Phyllis leaves behind a legacy of love, years of stories, and sweet memories that will live on in the hearts and lives of her family.
