Priscilla Schell Choate, 68, of Anacortes, WA passed away on August 26, 2024, at Providence Hospital in Everett. Born in Portsmouth, VA on August 17, 1956, Priscilla was the daughter of James and Barbara (Berguin) Schell. Priscilla spent her early years in Virginia. Upon receiving a degree at Macon Junior College in Georgia, she set her sights on Alaska, where she moved to soon after.
In the early 80s, Priscilla met James Rufus Choate, the love of her life - they were married for over forty years. The Choate family eventually settled in Anacortes, where Priscilla would pursue a second degree in dental hygiene and end up spending a long career working in Dr. Bethard's office in Anacortes. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her office family at the office, and outside of work. Sunset beach and Washington Park were some of her favorite spots. Priscilla was an active member of the Anacortes community and enjoyed coordinating the 4th of July Parade in the late 90s with AWOT.
Family time was important to Priscilla. She would accompany Jim to Roche Harbor taking weekend trips boating and crabbing in their 34' trawler. When spending time with her grandson Brighton, she would come up with several ways to say "I Love You" in different languages, spoil him and Maxwell with ice cream, visits to the park, interest them with history, and indulge them in their various pursuits. She was an avid fan of football, a pastime she shared with her brother Scott. Priscilla loved dogs, especially her rescue, "June Bug", and enjoyed the companionship of many corgis over her lifetime.
Priscilla is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by; her husband Jim; their daughter Chelsea (Scott Bennett); stepchildren:, Gordon (Emily) Choate, James (Annette) Choate, and Trina (Matt Kollasch); her brother, Scott (Kathy) Schell; seven grandchildren, two nephews and one niece.
