"Polly Jean" Becton Wampler, 85, was a smiling reflection of Jesus. On July 22 she entered her heavenly home with Him, after many years of walking in Him on this earth. We will celebrate her life on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at 1 PM at Lakeridge United Methodist Church. Her family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 5:00 pm to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. She was born on November 2, 1936, to Joe and Helen Becton in Lubbock Texas.
She was raised in the Becton community, going to school at Becton Elementary, then graduating from Idalou in 1955. She and Jan Wampler, married in October 1955. They lived in Muleshoe, Clovis, Plainview, and then Lubbock. They were business owners. After retirement, Polly continued to work as a Hearing Instrument Specialist with her daughter and son-in-law at Grand Hearing Center.
Polly, "Nanny" had some apples of her eye. Although she loved motherhood, she absolutely adored 5 grandchildren. She attended athletic events (wearing the correct jersey) voice recitals, choir /band concerts, art exhibits, and even reggae band gigs. If the grandchildren were involved Nanny and Pa were there, even traveling across the country for a ball game or concert. She would make costumes for a drama event, or help Pa construct what was needed for Pinewood Derby or science projects.
She was a member of the Methodist Church in each town they lived. She taught Sunday school. She co-authored the weight loss Bible study at LakeRidge with Gayle, she was a part of the heart pillow ministry and a member of the Bible Study Sunday School class. She was a shining example of allowing Jesus to flow through her in her smile, her kind words, her cards, notes, and phone calls.
Survivors include her daughter, Gayle (Blair) Willson; son, Carl (Susanne) Wampler; grandchildren, Lauren (Tyson) Snow, Lisa (Kyle) Burnam, Joshua (Rebecca) Willson; Aaron (Katie) Wampler; brothers, Joe Dale Becton, Jim (Sherlyn) Becton, Jerry (Sharla) Becton.
