Phyllis Rose McCaffrey, born April 11, 1928, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2021, with loving family members by her side.
The daughter of Rose Harrington (n?e O'Mara) and Harold J. Harrington, Phyllis was predeceased by her husband Alfred S. McCaffrey and brother Richard Harrington, and is survived by her son Kevin McCaffrey, granddaughter Elizabeth Murphy and husband Nathan, grandson Aidan McCaffrey and wife Anna, great-grandson Wade Murphy, and great-granddaughter Rose Murphy - who is named after her great-grandmother.
Phyllis grew up near Fresh Pond in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and graduated from Cambridge High and Latin School in 1945. She attended the Chandler School for Women in Boston, Massachusetts, graduating with an Associate's degree in 1948.
Phyllis and Alfred were married in 1955, and celebrated the birth of their son, Kevin, in 1957. Due to Alfred's military service, the family spent time living in California, Germany, Kentucky, Missouri, and Maryland, before settling in Concord in 1967. In Concord, Phyllis worked at the New Hampshire Department of Revenue and the Concord School District.
Phyllis loved spending time with family and friends, travel (including trips around Europe during her time living in Germany), knitting, reading, Broadway musicals, and being by the ocean.
A memorial service will be held at Waters Funeral Home in Concord on Friday, December 10, at 10:30 AM, followed by a private burial.
