Phyllis Ann Kaser, 87, of Leesburg, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2021. Phyllis was born in 1933 in Clyde, Ohio to the late Louis and Laura Lafollette. She graduated from Freemont Ross High School in 1951 before attending the Toledo Hospital School of Nursing and receiving her diploma with a concentration in Pediatric Medicine in 1954. It was shortly after nursing school that she married her sweetheart, Col William Kaser. They celebrated 61 years of marriage before his death in 2016. Due to her husband's military postings, she had the opportunity to work as a Civilian Army Nurse in Fort Benning, Georgia and Neubrucke, Germany. Upon the birth of her only child, Thomas, they returned to the states, and she retired from nursing and concentrated on being a mother. The family settled in Springfield, Virginia and she returned to school and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland in 1972. She returned to the work force where she was a charge nurse and Supervisor at Sleepy Hollow Nursing Home in Annandale and a Registered Nurse/Team Leader at the Primus Military Clinic in Fairfax. Upon her retirement and move to Leisure World in Leesburg in 2004, she would continue her passion by volunteering at health clinics and was a member of the Medical Reserve Corp of Loudoun. Being a military spouse, however, was very important to her and she enjoyed hosting events and once served as the President of the Army Transportation Corp Wives. The desire to make people comfortable defined her life whether personally or professionally. Always understated with unlimited patience, she cared more about the person across from her then she did about herself. She is survived by her brother, Larry, her son, Thomas and two granddaughters, Chelsea and Emily. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 10, 2021, from 2 to 4pm at the Colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg VA. Due to COVID, the family respectfully requests those attending please wear a face mask. She will be buried with her husband in a private service at Arlington National Cemetery in the fall. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the Wounded Warrior Project or the American Cancer Society
