Help us celebrate Phyllis & Gene! Please share your stories and photos, and invite others who remember Phyllis & Gene.
Our mother and father, Phyllis Ann Narby Graney and Eugene "Gene" Daniel Graney Jr, both at the age 90, passed on November 10th and September 9th, 2024, respectively, after sixty-seven years of marriage.
Phyllis was born July 3, 1934, in Jamestown, NY to the late Walter Narby and Mildred Wilcox Narby. She graduated from Mercyhurst University in Erie, PA. She was a life-long schoolteacher. She enjoyed sewing. Many of us have items sewn by her. She loved to cook big dinners for family events. The kitchen was her kingdom, and she managed it with love.
Gene was born February 17, 1934, in Erie, PA, to the late Eugene Graney Sr and Florence Conyngham Graney. This is where he would later meet our mom. He graduated from Fenn College in Cleveland, OH with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. His passion was managing large manufacturing facilities. His battles with the Teamsters Union in North Jersey during the nineteen seventies were legendary.
Mom and Dad retired to the The Villages, FL. They enjoyed golf and visits with family and friends.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her twin sister, Patty and is survived by her two brothers Tracy and Tim. Gene is survived by his brother Tom. Phyllis and Gene are also survived by their four children David, Elizabeth, Patrick, and Karen, five grandchildren Michelle, Laura, Reid, Molly, and Katie, five great grandchildren Kyle, Conner, Jacob, Hayden, and Grant.
A funeral service will take place at 11:30 AM on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (one block west of Milwaukee Ave) in Libertyville, IL. Burial will follow at Ascension Catholic Cemetery at 1920 Buckley Road in Libertyville, IL. Afterwards, there will be a gathering at Karen and Kirk Moyer's house at 39627 N Queensbury Lane, Beach Park, IL for food and fellowship.
May They Rest in Peace.
