Phillip A. Kowena, 66, of Lawton, Oklahoma died October 9, 2021. Phillip was born March 2, 1955, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Lewis Finis Kowena and Lena Mae Kowena. Phillip was a proud member of the Comanche Nation of Oklahoma, and a descendent of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma.
Phillip graduated from Snyder High School, where he excelled in football and basketball, then continued his education at the Fort Cobb Technical School in auto mechanics. He enjoyed watching OU football and visiting with family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Phillip A. Kowena, Jr. of Seminole, and his daughter, Laura Kowena. Phillip leaves behind brothers: Brian H. Kowena, of Lawton; Pastor Felix J. Kowena of Thoreau, New Mexico; Guy Kowena of Tecumseh, sisters: Rebecca Benton of Norman, and Rachel Howell of Tecumseh. Also, a nephew, Joseph J. Kowena of Shawnee, raised by Lewis and Lena, and other nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis F. Kowena; his mother, Lena Mae Kowena; a brother, Lewis F. Kowena, Jr.; and a sister, Vena Kowena Reed.
Graveside service will be 1:00 P.M. Monday October 18, 2021 at Post Oak Cemetery with Pastor Felix Kowena officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Comanche Nation Funeral Home.
