Philip S. "Phil" Rusch, 62, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m on Monday, February 12, at Runge Mortuary in Davenport, with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. prior to the service. Phil will be laid to rest in Davenport Memorial Park. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com. Phil was born May 27, 1961, son of Leo L. and Darlene (Heiring) Rusch of Holy Cross, Iowa. He loved cars all his life, beginning with his collection of matchbox cars as a boy. He graduated from Leo High School, graduated from NITI in auto mechanics, and then joined the National Guard in 1979 where he served for 21 years. He worked at Curtis Industries and Heeren until 1990, later spending 13 years in hydraulics distribution for Nott Company in the Quad Cities. On June 27, 2015, he was united in marriage to Susan McKinney in Clinton, Iowa. They resided in Davenport until the present, and he worked there until he retired due to ill health. Phil loved music and was a talented guitarist. He was a true and loyal friend, a man with a generous heart who brought smiles to all those he loved. Phil is survived by his wife, Susan; daughter, Nicole Hines of Rancho Cordova, CA; son, Scott Rusch of Asbury, Iowa; stepsons, Joe and Sean McKinney; his mother, Darlene Rusch of Holy Cross, Iowa; brothers, Joseph (Teresa) of Davenport and James (Tammy) of Anthon, Iowa; sisters, Marge McGowan of North Liberty, Iowa, and Anne (Dan) Hayes of Pecatonica, Illinois; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Leo L. Rusch, and grand-nephew, Shawn Klein.
