Philip Lee Padgett, 66, of Orleans, passed away at 12:15 PM on September 30, 2020 at IU Health Hospital in Paoli.
He was born August 23, 1954 in Bedford, IN, the son of Daniel Lewis and Norma Jean (Tolbert) Padgett.
He married Mary (Freeland) Padgett on September 21, 1985 and she preceded him in death on June, 7, 2012.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Orleans for over fifty years. He graduated from Orleans High School, class of 1972, and Indiana College of Business and Technology in 1974. He was a member of Hoosier Hill Emmaus (Past Weekend Leader), Kairos of Indiana Prison Ministry of Plainfield Men's Correctional Facility and Heritage Trail Men's Correctional Facility both in Plainfield, IN. Phil was active in the Orleans Community with helping with the Orleans Farmer's Market and the TOUCH and RIOT programs thru the Orleans School System.
He is survived by one sister, Jann Harkness (Lonnie) of Orleans; four brothers, Steve Padgett (Dean) of Clermont, IN, Fred Padgett (Sandy) of Paoli; Jim Padgett (Leslie) of Orleans and D.K. Padgett (Becky) of Orleans; one sister-in-law, Sherry Padgett of Orleans and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by one step-daughter, Julie McDaniel; two grandchildren, Danielle French and Travis McDaniel and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents; and one brother Jeff Padgett.
The funeral will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 5, 2020 at the Ochs-Tetrick Funeral Home in Orleans with Dave Conley officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Orleans.
Friends are invited to visitation at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00-7:00 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Orange County Cancer Patient Services or to the Orleans Wesleyan Church Youth Group.
