Mr. Philip "Phil" Jacob Greenleaf, III, 60, of Lake Wylie, SC, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 14, 2023, at home surrounded by his family.
Phil Greenleaf was born May 17, 1963, in Chester, PA, to Delores Suzanne Heintz and the late Philip Jacob Greenleaf, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Melissa Anne Adams Greenleaf; his daughter, Jessica Anne Hayworth (Trevor), Lake Wylie, SC; son, Philip Jacob "PJ" Greenleaf, IV, (Elisabeth), Raleigh, NC; his mother, Delores Heintz; his sisters, Jennifer Packard, Lynne Rhodes, and Amanda Gorman; and his brothers, David Greenleaf, Paul Greenleaf, Brian Greenleaf, and Ira Rhodes.'
Phil was a team player in every sense of the word, even winning the MVP award for his team at DR Horton this year. He was always the first one to offer help to his family, his friends, his coworkers or even a stranger. He was a Philly sports fanatic and never missed an opportunity to cheer on the Phillies or his beloved Eagles even from hundreds of miles away. His pride and joy was sharing the World Series moment with his son in 2008 and all the Eagles games he watched with his daughter.
Phil loved to host family and friends for food, drinks, bonfires, and world class firework shows. He always had an open-door policy, and anyone could walk through the front door, and he would immediately ask "what can I getcha?" He had a way of making everyone feel welcome.
Phil was the world's greatest father to his children, PJ and Jessica and the best husband to his wife, Melissa. No matter the day, he was always there to support them in any way possible. Whether he always made time to go to an NC State football game with his son, made it to every one of Jessica's soccer games even when he lived elsewhere to support his family, or always made sure mom had her favorite yellow roses on every special occasion; he was always there. If either one of his children needed anything, he was always ready to lace up his sneakers and pull out his toolbox at a moment's notice. We will never forget the lessons he taught us, those we asked for and those we didn't. We are grateful for every single one.
Every day spent with Phil, you always had the pleasure of laughing and smiling. He always knew how to put a smile on your face and cackle like a little kid. He always gave without ever expecting to receive anything in return. He truly was one of a kind and loved by so many. We are incredibly grateful for the years we had with him, but no amount of time with Phil would have ever been enough.
