September 16, 1936 - May 4, 2022 Colonel, USMCR (Ret) Mr. Philip Inglee, 85, passed away on May 4th, 2022 in Huntington Beach, California. He was born on 09/16/1936 and graduated from high school in Walton, NY in 1955. He became an Eagle Scout in 1952 and Distinguished Eagle Scout in 1998, as well as a member of the Boy Scouts of America's Order of the Arrow. He was a graduate of Davis & Elkins College with a BS in Finance, where he played football and was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon national fraternity and later served as a college trustee from 1988 to 1991. In Addition, he received the college's Distinguished Alumni Award in 2009. Upon graduation from college in 1959 he joined the U.S Marine Corps as an infantry officer. His first overseas deployment with the Fleet Marine Forces was in Okinawa, Borneo, Philippines, and later Thailand with the 3rd Battalion/9th Marine Regiment. He remained active in the Marine Corps Reserves and retired as a Colonel in 1989. Philip was a commercial banker for 40 years with Barclays Bank, American National Bank and retired as the President of Liberty National Bank in 1997 around the Huntington Beach area. During his banking career he received numerous awards which included two U.S Small Business Administration Financial Advocate for Southern California and Chairman of the American Banking Association's Small Business Committee. In retirement, he served as Chairman of the Huntington Beach Community Clinic and later, the city's Planning Commission. From 1999-2000 he served as Foreman of the Orange County Grand Jury and was appointed to the State's Board of Prison Terms by Governor Schwarzenegger in 2005. In his later years, he was a City Personnel Commissioner and consulted on banking matters with local small businesses. Mr. Inglee was a member of the Mayflower Society, Sons of the American Revolution, and Sons of the Revolution. He and his wife Marilyn lived and were socially active for many years in Huntington Beach, and traveled the world together during their 47 Years of marriage. They were married on September 28th, 1974 in Fullerton, CA. Philip leaves behind his wife Marilyn, as well as his sons Jay and Chris, daughters Kristin and Lori, grandchildren Logan, George, Christopher, Lauren, Nicholas, and Jessica, and great-grandchild Remi. Service will be held Saturday, June 18th at 12:00 pm at Forest Lawn Covina in the Church of Our Heritage. Finally, "Fight On" USC football, and SEMPER FI!
