It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peter George ("Pete") Loscomb, of Secretary, Maryland, on Sunday, May 26, 2024. He was 57. After battling brain cancer since 2002, Pete was at one point in the mid-2000s given "less than six months" to live after "Western medicine (had) done all it could." Miraculously, Pete slowly recovered until he was "kicked out" of hospice, to the delight of those who knew him, and enjoyed an "extra" two decades to see his children grow to adulthood and have children of their own before he finally succumbed peacefully, surrounded by those same children and grandchildren, his siblings, and his dear friends, at Compass Regional Hospice in Centreville, MD.
Pete was a diligent and tireless worker, holding the equivalent of a full-time position in maintenance at the historic Tidewater Inn in Easton while attending high school at Saints Peter and Paul High School in Easton. Following graduation, Pete joined the United States Navy, where he served as a flight-deck technician on the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. After his Navy service, Pete parlayed his knowledge of mechanics and technology into a career as Director of Cable Operations for Easton Utilities until his cancer diagnosis. Following his recovery, he left Easton Cable, preferring to work part-time to serve his church, Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Secretary, in order to spend more time with his family. Pete was an adept and popular guitar player around the Delmarva Peninsula, playing with many bands of various genres, such as Dixie Fried, Chain Reaction, Rumors, and Hired Guns.
A deeply faithful Catholic all his life, Pete is preceded in death by his parents, Richard ("Rick") and Bernadette ("Bea") Loscomb of Secretary, and his cousin Chris Cropper of Delmar, MD. He is survived by his son, Bryan Loscomb of Hurlock, and two daughters: Elizabeth Mueller of Preston and Patience Marie Loscomb of Lakeland, FL, as well as four grandchildren: Kaylie, Garrett, and Henry Mueller of Preston, and Aurora Loscomb of Hurlock. He will be missed by all who knew him. His Celebration of Life will be held at the Camp Todd program center in Denton, MD on June 29th at 1pm.
