Peter Jennings Talbot passed away August 18, 2021 on a return trip home to the Midwest. He was 60.
Peter was born on June 11, 1961 in Norwalk, Connecticut to Ellen Grevatt and Edward Talbot. He was the oldest of many siblings.
Peter served in the United States Navy from 1979 to 1983. In 1984 he married his wife, Kathryn, and in 1987 received a bachelor's degree from the University of North Florida. He went on to work many years in finance with the majority of his career at General Electric. His career took him and his family throughout the United States. Though he loved the Northeast where he was born and raised, it was St. Augustine, Florida that had his heart. He fulfilled his retirement dream of having a home there while also summering in Culver, Indiana.
Peter will be remembered as the family historian with a deep love for genealogy. He was always searching and documenting his findings. The outdoors was his happy place. He enjoyed the accomplished feeling of a well-maintained yard, always working in the flower beds, building stonewalls and being proud of the manual labor put toward each home. Most of all it was the water where he found solace. It didn't matter if it was the East Coast ocean waves or crisp Lake Maxinkuckee waters ? so long as he was on, near or in the water, he was happy. Sailing and boating ran deep in his veins, and he enjoyed both as often as he could. Most recently, Peter welcomed his first grandchild, Silas, named after Peter's fourth great-grandfather Silas Talbot. They shared a special bond and spent many days together at the lake.
Peter is survived by his wife Kathryn Talbot. Daughter Kaitlyn Nickell, husband Chris and grandson Silas. Son Peter J. Talbot II. Parents Ellen and John Grevatt and brother John Grevatt. Father Rick Talbot, half-brothers Drew Talbot and Jason Talbot. He is predeceased by his sister Elizabeth Grevatt and dear grandmother Sylvia Jennings.
An outdoor lakeside service for Peter will be held at 1 p.m. EDT, on Friday, September 3 at 782 East Shore Drive, Culver, IN. Private interment to follow. An informal gathering will follow after the service.
