Peter Torrence Ireland, 81, of Middletown, MD passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Pete was born on October 10, 1942, in Washington, DC to the late Joseph Preston and Mildred Hazel (Burke) Ireland. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby and Joe Ireland.
Surviving is his loving wife of 61 years, Janice Lorelle (Redmond) Ireland, his children John Torrence Ireland and his wife, Chris, Peter Ireland and his wife, Terra, Ryan Ireland and Fancy Ireland, grandchildren Timothy and wife Holly, Trevor, McKinley, Arden, Pearse, Paul, Sulley, Quaid, and Daphne, as well as his great grandchildren Benjamin, Charlotte, Cooper and Luke.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather; an avid supporter of his children's and grandchildren's youth sports - never missing a game. Pete worked as a land surveyor his entire career, retiring just last year from Witmer and Associates because he enjoyed his work and coworkers so much. Pete was also a history buff and loved war memorabilia.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Thompson Harman Funeral Home, 31 E. Main Street, Middletown, where a Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 23, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow in Harmony Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Myersville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Frederick County Animal Control and Adoption Center, 1832 Rosemont Avenue, Frederick, MD 21702.
