Our strong and beautiful son, our light and love and joy is gone. Peter started his life in the apple orchards on Pleasant Ridge near the north fork of the Skagit River. The Skagit and every piece of water around the world would capture his heart and shape his adventurous life.
Peter's love of fishing always reflected the belief that a great fishing trip was always as much about the journey as it was about the catch. From the time he could walk, a dip net and a hook pole was as essential as a rod and reel. Peter was a gentle soul who loved all of God's creations from the frogs and cutthroats on the Taku River with his grandpa Pete to the snakes on the corner with the neighborhood kids to many, many, many hours of fishing with his Pop on the upper Skagit, at Heart Lake and everywhere.
School brought many lifelong friends and a love of basketball. Peter played his heart out for the Fighting Seahawks led by Brett Senff, his coach, mentor, friend and eventually - boss. He graduated from Anacortes High School with the class of 2014 and headed out to fish Bristol Bay the next morning when the rest of his class were just going to bed. After a stint at the California Maritime Academy which included a trip through the Panama Canal up the coast of Africa and in the Mediterranean, Peter spent several years fishing commercially in Alaska and Washington including fishing for Dungeness crab with the Senff family. He was the hardest working kid and made his folks proud.
Peter took his hard-earned fishing money and invested in a new career path. He completed the lineman program at Northwest Lineman College near Boise, Idaho in the top ten percent of his class and earned a leadership award from the college President. He was a proud member of the IBEW union and worked here, there, and everywhere.
Peter is survived by his parents, Greg and Karen; his grandmas Ginny and Jeanie; his aunts and uncles and cousins; his beloved Aunt Biddy, who makes the best pie ever; and a circle of friends, who had to learn about loss way too soon. He was preceded in death by his grandpas Pete and Phil and many fine dogs.
His spirit will live on!
