Peter Michael Coppola Jr, 80 of Spring Lake, NJ, died peacefully in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, September 22, 2021. Peter was a devoted son, brother, cousin, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Born in Hoboken, Peter grew up in Jersey City, where he developed a strong sense of family, community, and the Catholic faith as a parishioner at St. Paul of the Cross. He graduated from Holy Family High School and Fairleigh Dickinson University and proudly served in the Army National Guard. An entrepreneur at heart, he built a successful recruitment firm that served the most prominent businesses on Wall Street. Along with his wife Sharon, he raised a family in Ridgewood, before moving to Spring Lake, 35 years ago. He was a committed member of the St. Catharine - St. Margaret Parish in Spring Lake. He is remembered fondly by all who knew him for his unwavering work ethic, commitment to family, God, and Country, for being a loyal NY Yankee fan, a Patriot, and supporter of thoroughbred horse breeding and equine retirement.
Peter was predeceased by his parents Peter and Anita Coppola, his Uncle Thomas Coppola and his beloved daughter, Meghan Coppola Rizzo in 2017. Surviving is his wife Sharon Coppola, two children, Michael Coppola & his wife Andrea, Krista Coppola Patterson & her Husband Edward, a son-in-law, David Rizzo, five grandchildren: Madeleine, Noelle, Carys, Oliver, and Leonardo. He also leaves his sister Roseann Kearney, several nieces, nephews, cousins as well as his loyal caretaker and friend Valerie Maxwell. His family is forever indebted to the Visiting Physicians, Nancy Leneghan, DNP, the numerous, doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, dieticians, aides, and hospital support staff at both Jersey Shore University Medical Center and Monmouth Medical Center, Meridian Hospice, and the VNA for their committed effort to quality and compassionate care amid the challenges of the COVID pandemic.
Visitation will be on Thursday, October 7, 2021, from 2-6 pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. Funeral Mass will be Friday, October 8, 2021, at 10:30 am at St. Catharine Church, followed by committal in St. Anne Cemetery.
