On Friday December 16,2022, Peggy Walker, 84, longtime resident of Tupelo and current resident of Walnut passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully.
Peggy Sue Robertson was born on May 20, 1938, in Tippah County, MS, the daughter of the late William Clyde and Wilma Modena Robertson. She was a graduate of Chalybeate School. Soon after graduation she moved to Rockford, IL to live with an aunt and start a career at Barber Colman Company. This is where she met her future husband, Walter Walker and they were married on May 11, 1963, and had three children. After many years in Rockford, she moved back "home" to Mississippi with her family and settled in Tupelo where she lived for 35 years. She worked as an Associate at Walmart for 23 years before retiring and moving back to the country in Tippah County.
A devout Christian and long-time member of the Gloster Street Church of Christ in Tupelo, she taught cradle roll for many years and enjoyed visiting those who were sick or unable to attend church. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She loved baking bread and sharing it with others. Alan Jackson was her favorite country music artist, and she was quite the collector of anything strawberry. Peggy will be remembered as someone who treated people with kindness and enjoyed serving others. She loved God, her family and little children.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 59 years,Walter Walker, her children Kim Jennings (Trent) of Texas, Tim Walker (Theresa) of Walnut, Kriss Blankenship of Plantersville, and a grandson Drew Jennings of Texas, brothers Clyde Ray Robertson (Grace), Dale Robertson (Keely) both of Falkner, Curtis Robertson of Illinois and sisters Connie Ralph (Junior) of Ripley and Machell Kirk of New Albany along with many extended family members (nieces, nephews, cousins, etc.) in the Tippah County and surrounding area.
A visitation will be held at 1 PM with a service immediately following at 2 PM on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at the Ripley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
