Peggy was born in Dallas, Texas on October 8, 1947 and passed away on January 26, 2021. She grew up mostly in Coleman, Texas, where she met and married Dennis Nichols in 1965. They moved to Garland, Texas soon after they married. They lived briefly in Brownwood and Texarkana before moving back to Garland, TX where they raised their daughter Shelley and have lived until the time of Peggy's death.
Peggy worked at Decker Food Company and Armour Food Company before owning her own demo agency - Peggy's Demo Service. Later she worked at Quaker before deciding to help Dennis open and run their family business - a food brokerage - Nichols & Associates.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 56 years Dennis; their only daughter Shelley Bruner (husband Dennis Bruner), and only grand-son Tristan Dunn (fiancee' Kati Tumlinson); sister Paula Cole; brothers Billy Avants & Lanton Avants (wife Kim Avants); father-in-law Sherman Lee Nichols; sister-in-law Shirley Johnson; brothers-in-law David Nichols (wife Lynne Nichols), Ronald Nichols (wife TyAnn Nichols), & Randy Nichols (wife Pat Nichols); nieces Pam Dautriel, Alysha Sparkman, Nylynn Nichols-Crowell, Kathryn Dowdy, Tori Nichols, Lea Kelley, Aaliah Avants, and Jojo Avants; nephews Kenneth Birdwell, Billy Jack Boler, Zachary Nichols, Brad Nichols, Adam Nichols, Caleb Avants, Jeremiah Avants, Bryant Sparkman, and Brady Sparkman. Peggy was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Avants and her mother-in-law Evelyn Nichols.
Peggy was a voracious reader and loved to play golf. She and Dennis made many lifelong friends playing golf at Oakridge Country Club in Garland and later Dallas Athletic Club. Peggy and her golfing buddy/girlfriends played in tournaments and traveled together over the years. Peggy was the center of her family and delighted in attending her grandson's sports & school events, watching him grow up, recently graduate college and become engaged. Peggy was a friend to all who knew her and kept everyone entertained and on their toes with her sharp tongue and quick wit.
